At The Plains Psychology, registered Gunnedah psychologist Helen Stanley creates a warm, secure and gentle environment for people in the community of Gunnedah and beyond.

Helen listens to each person’s concerns and works with them to find appropriate interventions that meet their needs. Her approach is centred around the individual and is non-judgemental and empathetic.

Helen believes that everyone should have the opportunity to be the best possible version of themselves, where they feel free to live life authentically and according to their values.

Originally from England, Helen has been a proud Gunnedah local for more than 30 years. She completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology through the University of New England in 2014, and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) with First Class Honours in 2016.

Her time as a psychologist has included extensive work in youth mental health and supporting carers and people with cognitive decline. She has worked with people with a wide range of mental health disorders and has a special interest in supporting people who present with difficulties concerning anxiety, depression, grief and loss, forced adoption, trauma, emotion regulation dysfunction, disordered eating and low self-esteem. She has also completed training in many other areas where people require mental health support.

Helen established The Plains Psychology to service the Gunnedah Shire and North-West Slopes and Plains Region as part of her commitment to providing support to rural communities.

She holds a general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA), registration number PSY0002201705. 

She is also a Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).
